A man was shot and killed in a convenience store in Prince George’s County, Md., early Tuesday, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 4400 block of Wheeler Road in the Oxon Hill area, police said. Authorities said officers responded around 4:40 a.m. to reports of a shooting and found a man with a gunshot wound in a convenience store.

He died there, police said.

Police identified him Wednesday as Deangelo Washington, 27, of the District.

According to an initial investigation, Washington was working at the store at the time, and the shooting does not appear to be random, police said.

“We believe at this point, in a moving investigation, is that there was some type of confrontation that occurred just before that incident took place,” Prince George’s County Police Chief Malik Aziz said in an interview with Fox5. Aziz added that police do not believe “this is a robbery of the convenience store.”

Investigators are working to establish a suspect and motive, police said.
