A 36-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday evening in Southeast Washington, police said.

Alonzo Marshall, of Southeast, was killed about 5:52 p.m. in the 2200 block of Savannah Street, SE. Police said he was pronounced dead on the scene.

By Friday morning, authorities had not made an arrest in his killing. Efforts to reach Marshall’s family were not successful.

Homicides were up 14 percent compared to the same time last year, a pace not seen in decades.
